7pm Thursday 4th September - Coffee with a Corncrake: Two Weeks on Mingulay
HWDT First Mate and author Zoë Stevenson takes us ashore the stunning isle of Mingulay. Uninhabited since 1912, Mingulay is now home to seabirds and seals galore! This year Zoë spent two weeks volunteering on the island helping with conservation efforts, and will share her wildlife encounters and incredible experiences on this remote Hebridean Island.
7pm Thursday 11th September - Blue Carbon: The Secret Superpower of Scotland’s Seas
Beneath the waves lies a hidden climate ally, blue carbon. Join Megan to uncover how Scotland’s seas store carbon, why it matters for climate change, and what it means for the future. Megan is an HWDT Outreach Assistant, a Young Sea Changer and sits on the Community Advisory Committee for COAST. Megan will share her experience on this vital topic, and advocate for marine protections as a tool to mitigate climate change.
7pm Thursday 18th September - Diaries of a Mull Birder and the Lunga Ranger
This is a fantastic opportunity to learn more about birdlife local to Mull and the Treshnish Isles, with two fantastic speakers sharing their knowledge and experiences. Theo de Clermont is a Naturalist and Wildlife guide based primarily on Mull. He will give us an insight into the birds of Mull: How, where and when to see them, new arrivals and features of the past, migrants, residents and rarities. Louise King works as a ranger for the National Trust for Scotland. She will give us a look into the daily life of a seabird ranger on the beautiful island, Lunga, part of the Treshnish Isles located off the west of Mull.
