Creating Connections with Scotland's Seas
The Big Give Green Match Fund is LIVE - this is your chance to make DOUBLE THE IMPACT! Donate now to connect people's with Scotland's seas. FOR THIS WEEK ONLY, the Big Give will DOUBLE any donation you make.
Join our mission to create connections with Scotland’s seas, because when people connect with the ocean, they’re inspired to protect it. Right now, our marine life needs that protection more than ever.
Scotland’s marine life is of global importance but it’s under threat – our waters are increasingly busy, noisy and polluted. Whales and dolphins face huge global pressures, and the threat of extinction for some species is real. The situation is urgent, but together we can create hope. By connecting people with the ocean, we can inspire action to protect and restore marine ecosystems.
ONE DONATION, DOUBLE THE IMPACT!
By donating you will provide opportunities for people to take part in activities that protect what they love, together we can all positively impact our blue planet. We are aiming to raise £10,000 over the next week. The best bit is that the Big Give will DOUBLE any donation you make between midday Tuesday 22 April and midday Tuesday 29 April, up to our target of £20,000.
WHY THIS IS IMPORTANT?
The climate emergency and biodiversity crisis demand urgent action. The Hebrides, a vital coastal region for marine life, needs protection. Whales and dolphins face huge global threats, with over a quarter of species at risk of extinction. Even in Scottish waters, a beloved killer whale community will vanish within our lifetime. Eco-anxiety is overwhelming, especially for young people, who are increasingly worried about the natural world and want their voices heard on how we should protect it. By creating memorable and impactful moments, together we can empower people to protect Scotland’s marine wildlife and inspire the whale champions of tomorrow.
WHY IS CONNECTION IMPORTANT?
Because people protect what they love and the best way to inspire love for the ocean is to help people experience it. Through our work at the Hebridean Whale Centre, on the Isle of Mull, we create powerful encounters that connect people of all ages to whales, dolphins, and our rich marine ecosystems. These experiences spark curiosity, hope, and action. Whether it's helping a young person spot their first whale or showing a visitor how they can be part of protecting ocean ecosystems, your donation helps create these life-changing moments.
